Water Transport In Gorakhpur

With the changing of time, the older modes of water transport in Gorakhpur have also undergone a change. There was a point of time in history where the rivers Rapti and Ghaghra were used extensively as means of transport. These days, however, these rivers are used to transport logs from the foot hills of the Himalayas.

There are a few ferries that ply through these rivers. However, their number is decreasing as most people prefer other means of transport. It is expected that with the further passage of time, ferries will be used primarily by tourists and pleasure seekers rather than a means of actual transport in Gorakhpur.
